What a night at Teatru Astra! The eleventh edition of RockAstra proved to be a resounding success, filling the theatre with energy, emotion, and exceptional musical talent. The La Stella Philharmonic Band, under the direction of Mro Dr John Galea, delivered a powerhouse performance alongside renowned vocalists Mark Tonna, Denise, Ludwig Galea, Karin Duff, Kristy Spiteri, and the Piccole Stelle Choir, led by Ms Sylvana Attard.
The evening opened with a heartfelt tribute to Mr Dolindo Cassar, former president of Teatru Astra and the La Stella Philharmonic Society, who passed away only days ago. This touching moment set the tone for a memorable night.
The concert then burst into life with a series of crowd favourites, including a medley from Ozzy’s repertoire, Runaway, Where the Streets Have No Name, Addicted to Love, Creep, Flowers, Pink Pony Club, Diavolo in Me, and Golden. The first half concluded with an emotional rendition of Who Wants to Live Forever, specially arranged for this concert by the late Mro Aurelio Belli, who passed away only weeks ago.
The second part of the show kept the momentum high with a vibrant Coldplay medley, followed by Pride, a rock-infused version of Phantom of the Opera, Love of My Life, Don’t Stop Believin’, Bark at the Moon, I’m Still Standing, and Shut Up and Dance with Me.
A packed Teatru Astra enjoyed a spectacular evening thanks to the dedication of the La Stella Philharmonic Band, the rhythm section, the singers, the choir, conductor Mro Dr John Galea, Ms Sylvana Attard, Mro George Apap for his contribution, and the extensive logistics and organisation team who made the event possible.
The evening was presented by Keane Cutajar and supported by the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, Elmo Insurance, MeDirect, and the Victoria Local Council.
